In the past the round robin quilt alongs have taken different shapes. We have sewed up a few row quilts, and borders around a center block. This year for the Round Robin I thought it would be fun to continue the topic of quilt blocks from last year.
The designers who are participating {did I already tell you they are awesome? They are!} are sharing a tutorial for a 12 1/2″ quilt block. It might have a story to go along with it. It might be an original design, or maybe it is just their favorite. Whatever it is, they will be sharing it, we will be sewing it. There has been no restriction with the technique or design of the quilt block. So, depending on the designer- we might see some applique, embroidery, paper piecing, traditionally pieced…or whatever their clever minds come up with.
As always, this is sort of a mystery. The blocks will not be shared until the day the post goes up…..so you will just have to trust that they will be spec-tac!!! Are you ready to meet the designers?

Since all the blocks will be the same size, this will make it easier in the end when we are putting it together. No math classes to determine the legnth of the row. Nothing too straining.
They will be 12 1/2″ quilt blocks. Each will showcase a different style and maybe a few new techniques will be shared.
What do you need to do to get started?
1) join the gallery so you are ready to post your picture of your fabric choice! {which gives you a giveaway entry!}
2) get your fabric ready to go! I can’t really give you an exact amount of fabric, but I would say you probably need around 2 yards of a background fabric. The medium and dark fabric I’d go with 1 yard each of a few different fabrics. If you are a scrappy sewer, dig around until you have a nice pile of coordinating fabrics. I am going with a collection of fabric printed by Andover. I have round 8 fat quarters that are ready to go. {You can see my collection in the gallery!}
3) join the facebook group. you can share there also, ask questions or just hang out 🙂
4) need a reminder? I’d love to send one to you via email! Sign up for the nudge.
