Around the Block | Round Robin Quilt Along Block 2

Today quilt block for the Around the Block Round Robin is designed by Becky @Patchwork Posse.

I have made this block a few other times and use it often as a back up block.  It’s pretty simple and is kind of quirky.  I love quirky so it’s right up my alley.

Why this quilt block?

I am in Utah…and surrounded by mountains.  In fact my winter sewing area has a big window which faces those mountains.  I love the view.  It changes colors during the fall, in the winter they are covered in snow.  I just love them.

This quilt block reminds me of them and I thought sharing a little bit of what I’m surrounded with on a daily basis would be fun.

Materials needed:

Cut 4 squares 7″ X 7″  you will need one dark and one light mountain and background.  I used 2 different lights and 2 different darks

Cut 4 2 1/2″ X 6 1/2″ strips from the dark fabric {2 of each dark fabric}

Make sure you square up your quilt blocks when it says to…this will help you end up with the right sized block when you are all done.

Get to know Becky a little better:

It’s me, Becky!  I have been a quilter for quite awhile– over 16 years.  I love exploring new designs and techniques.  I blog here, where I share tutorials, new patterns, how to’s and more.  After sewing up a few quilts from others designs, I quickly found myself not following rules, doing things how I wanted to do them, and pretty much ignoring everything I was taught by my mom {sorry mom}.  This let me into the pattern design world….because I just know someone else out there will understand my style.

A few fun facts– I have 4 kids…boys=girls in numbers.  I love to play soccer, tote around some sewing, blab about anything that relates to sewing, quilting, blogging.  I am a pro at the 30 second friendships,  unpicking, and sewing fast.
