Today we are finishing up the Round Robin– Around the Block Quilt along.
This has been one of the funnest quilt alongs I have done. The designers were great {super thank you!}, the quilt blocks were perfect for each other….and so glad everything went together like they were meant to be.
Now that the quilts are all put together, I thought we’d talk a little bit about quilting and binding.
Machine Quilting:
I did a repeating circle in the sashing. Simple and quick. Makes life happy. When I hit the pinwheels in the sashing, I did a little swirl and then moved onto the next section with the repeating circles.
Each quilt block got it’s own design, but I kep with the theme of apple cores {half circles}, circles, swirls and loops. The large applique flower was quilted with echo quilting. {where you quilt around the shape, and then continue quilting around the shape following the same shape as before}
I used white thread for the whole quilt. It hides for the most part and I am happy with how it turned out.
For the binding, I used 2 1/4″ strips and machine stitched the binding. Here’s a tutorial for making your bias binding strips, and making your corners miter. If you prefer a different method, here is a tutorial on folding the back to the front.
This is part of the Round Robin Quilt Along Series–– for previous blocks and for theschedule of designers.clickety click here.

I had thought of circles, but decided to stick with the star theme. Yours turned out great! I’m almost 1/2 done with the quilting, but it will have to wait until after the weekend to be finished.
