Today quilt block for the Around the Block Round Robin is designed by Kim @Kimberbell Designs!
I met Kim and her twin a couple of years ago at The Creative Connection. In fact, I was soooo lucky to sit next to them on the plane ride home and talk their ears off! They were so patient with me and kind…love those girls!
We continue to bump into each other at Quilt Market, quilt stores… it’s always fun to run into them. They are both truly talented and so much fun to be with.
Kim is the designer behind Kimberbell where her style is very distinct and great for any kind of sewer level. You can tell that she loves applique…. and fun whimsy designs.
I am excited to have her here sharing her quilt block with us–
Appliqued Flower Quilt Block
Here is what Kim said about her quilt block: I absolutely love to applique! There’s so much you can add to any quilt, handbag, or home decor, with just a little bit of scrap fabric and a design. I wanted to showcase how easy it is to do fusible applique with this flower block. I also love to add all the extra-fun embellishments that make a quilt unique. So you’ll also learn how to do an extra large yo-yo for the center of the flower.
This is part of the Round Robin Quilt Along Series-– for previous blocks and for the schedule of designers.clickety click here.
Materials needed:
- background fabric (in this case I made a 12.5 x 12.5″ square)
- scrap fabric for flower applique
- fusible web (ex: Heat-n-Bond LITE)
- scrap fabric for yo-yo embellishment
- flower applique and yo-yo pattern {provided on her tutorial page}
Now it’s your turn to sew the Applique Flower Quilt Block:
