Block 7 of the Round Robin has been designed by Ellen. She is the delightful owner and designer for The Long Thread.
I have been big fan of Ellen’s since I started blogging and was very lucky and totally excited to happen upon her booth at Fall Quilt Market. We chatted for a good bit, I drooled over her book and designs. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of her book: 1-2-3 Quilt and adore it! It has wonderful projects that are great for any style or level of sewer. {check down below and you’ll find that you can win a copy for yourself this week!}
It was truly delightful! I have admired her work and blog for so long I was a little star struck. Even more so when she agreed to design for the Round Robin.
Here is Ellen’s Quilt Block~
Double Diamond Quilt Block
What Ellen says about here block:
With half-square triangles and matching points, this block is a great challenge for a beginning quilter. The completed block is 12 1/2″ square and you’ll need a fat quarter of four different fabrics to create one block. I used some of the linen/cotton blend fabrics that I designed for Kokka. Use solids for simplicity or make it your own by trying one of the alternate block options.
This is part of the Round Robin Quilt Along Series-– for previous blocks and for theschedule of designers.clickety click here.
Materials needed:
4 fabrics- the main color will be the thick stripe down the center of each corner block.
Remember the the fabric that you put in the corners will also connect, making a secondary pattern.
It’s your turn to sew the Double Diamond Quilt Block

If you are in love with the quilt block, Ellen has designed a layout for you to use it in a quilt. Picking contrasting fabric is the key – the end result will be striking.
