This Easter Table Runner Pattern using the quilt as you go technique is really quite simple to sew. Quickly sew it and finish it in one day! Free Easter applique printable also included.
With Spring comes Easter. This super easy quilt as you go table runner can be made in one day, and small enough to tuck away until next year. Add a few cute Easter inspired applique, and you have a project done that can be used during the holiday.
Use your fabric stash, scraps, or even a jelly roll {you would get more than one with all those strips!}. The back can even be pieced if you’d like to further the fabric you already have.
Materials for the Easter Table Runner:
- Rotary cutter or a new sharp blade
- Cutting Mat
- Quilt Ruler
- Sewing Machine this brother is my favorite!
- Iron here or here
- Thread
- Bobbins
- Scissors
- Seam Ripper not my favorite thing to do!
- fusible fleece or batting 19″ X 26″
- backing fabric 19″ X 26″ -pick it up at Connecting threads or Fat Quarter Shop
- strips of fabric- any thickness, 26″ – 30″ long
- Easter applique templates (found in the Quilters Resource Library- instructions for access at the bottom of the post)
Easter Table Runner Pattern:
1) Cut back and fusible fleece or batting to 19″ X 26″
2) Fuse {following instructions on product} the back and fleece
3) Starting in the center of the table runner, place the first strip- right sides facing up. Pin in place to secure
4) Pin the next strip to either side of the first strip –right sides facing
5) Sew along the edge
6) Flip the new strip and iron
7) Pin the next strip in place, right sides facing and sew along the edge again.
8) Repeat steps 4-7 until you have taken your strips to one side of the table runner.
9) Repeat steps 4-7 until you have taken your strips to other side of the table runner.
* You can take the time to sew additional stitches along the seams in different thread colors if you’d like.
10) Trim your table runner to 19″ X 26″ -some of the strips might have gone past the initial piece
11) Bind the table runner
12) Print applique templates. (found in the Quilt Resource Library– instructions for access below)

13) Sew around the shapes to secure to your new finished table runner.
There are a few options for applique-
you can do some fun raw edge applique, needle turn using freezer paper, machine sewn- with a zig zag or satin stitch, and button hole stitching.
