I’m very excited today to share some info on using EQ with AccuQuilt!
As many of you know, I do have a few AccuQuilt dies and machines… LOVE IT! and now they have teamed up with EQ with their Mix and Match Qubes! whoop whoop.
This is the XMas Table Topper that I designed using one of the blocks and cutting the fabric with AccuQuilt.
It was so simple and quick! I loved it!!
I have a video showing you step by step on how you can sew the block yourself.
Before we get to that, let’s talk about what this combination does!
Enjoy the perfect mix of creativity and precision with AccuQuilt add-ons for EQ8 software!
It took me a bit to understand the EQ program, but after I got the hang of it – I really do like it! I use it for almost all the quilt designs I put into Patchworkers Plus.
It really does make designing so easy when everything is in one place. The blocks, the layout options – and now with the AccuQuilt addition – not only is the designing quicker but now the cutting is!

This is the on that I have – and LOVE IT! I also teamed it up with the Qube 8″ block by AccuQuilt. You can buy them here:
This is a quick look at the Qube that I used. It is the 8″ squares
Open up the Qube and you’ll find the dies in their own section with a card with each die – showing you a block you can sew.
These are the two dies that I used for this project. The half square triangle and the 2 1/2″ square die.
The block that I used for the free pattern is the Xblock. That’s why I made this the Xmas Table Topper.
There’s a picture at the end to show you what this would look like if you made more blocks and put it into a quilt. I kind of love it and am tempted to make it!

*you can make your own hst using squares – more info on the hst tutorial here.

I chose a light green, darker green, a fun red and a background.
How to Sew the X Quilt Block
Holiday Xmas Table Topper Instructions
1- Cut all your pieces that you need for the block.
2. Use the image above to lay your pieces out in the correct order. You’ll be pairing up light green with dark green, light green with background, and dark green with background.
3. Lay right sides together the two HST and sew. Press and square up if needed to 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
4. Continue pairing up your triangles to make the HST
5. Continue sewing these pieces together!
6. Sew them into rows
7. Check the pieces for the correct placements before moving on. You can unpick and fix any errors easily at this point.
8. Place the rows together, lining up the seams. Pin in place – make sure you nest your seams to keep them nice and perfect!
9. Your block is complete. Repeat with the other 3 blocks for 4 total.
10. Press well
11. Lay the blocks out with the sashing in place
*you’ll notice that the blocks are turned so in the center with the sashing block it looks like a 9 patch.
12. Sew the sashing to the blocks and finish quilt table topper!
Finishing the Table Topper
1. Cut or piece together your batting and a piece of quilt backing fabric.
2. Make a quilt sandwich with the backing, batting, and top.
3. Baste together with fusible batting, pins or basting spray.
3. Quilt as desired. A few of my favorite ways to quilt are Straight line quilting or cross hatch quilting. Use a walking foot on your sewing machine. Trim away the extra batting and backing.
4. Cut strips of fabric for the binding. Cut 2 1/2” tall (sometimes I use 2 1/4″) binding strips. Sew the binding strips together and bind using your favorite technique.
* I used the backing fabric for the binding.
If you are loving the layout and want to make it into a quilt – here’s a look at what it would look like!
You can decide how large you want to make the quilt – this will determine how many blocks you sew. The blocks being 8 inch finished – if you are using the larger Qube from AccuQuilt, you could go with the larger collections to make a larger block.
