Let’s make something super cute today – the Sewing Machine Die from AccuQuilt. This die features a few knobs, buttons, thread and place for your sewing machine.
I used mine on a cute project (coming soon), but really- this applique can be put on any project you’d like.
In the past, I’ve used a die like this on a baby quilt. You can see the kitty quilt here.
I kept things simple with this applique project – I used fusible and I did raw edge applique to secure it to the background fabric. I’ll show more of that when I share the finished project.
Materials Needed:
- Buy the Sewing Machine Die on Accuquilt
- Fabric Scraps for all the parts of the sewing machine
- HeatnBond Lite Iron-On Adhesive
Take a look at the Sewing Machine die for the Accuquilt Go! machine! It seriously is so fun to use and make. You are going to love the style of the machine and how you can add some extra fun with the knobs, thread and plate of the machine.
So many options here!
1- Unwrap the sewing machine die and get your machine out and ready. You’ll need a long cutting mat as well.
2- Gather your supplies for the parts of the machine. At this point just narrow down the options to just what you need for the project.
3- Cut the fabric pieces that you choose so it fits on top of their specific part of machine. Note that the area where the blade is – you’ll see a light and dark grey edge. You’ll want the piece of your fabric to be larger than this edge.
4- Lay the pieces on top of the sewing machine die to make sure they are larger than the light/dark edge
5- Place your cut pieces on fusible and press (read the instructions for best pressing and use directions)
6- Lay the cutting mat on top of the machine. I like to do this so I’m not moving the die around the fabric shifting before it gets cut.
7- Place your fused fabric pieces on top of the die
8- Place your protective cutting mat on top of the die
9- Using the handle, feed the Accuquilt die through the machine
10- Remove the cutting mat and the newly cut fabric pieces
11- Remove the paper from the back of the cut pieces
12- Put your pieces in place using the image for help
13- Finish layering the pieces and fuse if you can.
Some of the pieces are off of the sewing machine and you won’t be able to fuse them at this point.
Pick your project that you are going to use this on, and then you can finish fusing them.
Here’s a look at the finished sewing machine Accuquilt die!!
Isn’t it so cute?! Such a great way to add some fun to any project, quilt, bag or whatever you’d like.
