Materials Needed
- AccuQuilt Cutting machine – the Go Me! works just great for this BOB fabric cutting die
- Star and Cross Quilt Block die
- Fabric – fat quarters work really well for this block. You are given enough fabric to cut into smaller pieces to lay on top of the correct areas of the cutting die.
- AccuQuilt 6″ x 12″ cutting mat. This is a long cutting die, so you’ll need the long cutting mat to go with the die. The die does not include the cutting mat.

Star and Cross Quilt Block Cutting Instructions
Step 1- Lay the pieces of fabric on top of the specific spot for cutting. Make sure to follow the instructions on the cutting die if you need to fold for a reverse cut or not. This pattern requires that.

Step 2 – Lay the cutting mat on top of your fabric that’s placed correctly on the cutting mat

Step 3 – Push the cutting die into the machine until it can’t go any further. Place the cutting mat on top of the cutting die area

Step 4 – Using the handle, push the cutting mat through the machine until it comes completely out the other side

Step 5 – Remove the cut pieces and set aside for sewing. You can remove the scraps around the pieces to use for dog bed fillers, quilt as you go or mile a minute quilting if they are large enough to use.
Step 6 – lay your cut pieces out according to the diagram on the die. I don’t have this included in the video – but it’s super simple to use the instructions given to finish.
This is really quite a simple block once you have all the pieces cut and ready to go.
Follow the instructions given with the cutting mat to complete the block.
Repeat for as many blocks as you plan to use with your quilt.

Star and Cross Quilt Options
The pattern included in the BOB features a 9 block layout. Three rows with three quilt blocks in each row. I thought I would explore a different layout with more blocks to make a lap sized quilt.
The first quilt is just the blocks sewn together with a small border and then binding.

These next two quilts show the same design as above, but includes a larger border and then binding.
