How to make a Pattern Tutorial- Templates & Measurements

So, you have your notes, you have your supplies ready…but you have no real measurements or patterns! Let’s work on that today shall we?

Get yourself a little pile of copy paper. I do prefer using the plain paper. I can make notes and not get distracted or confused at what is printed on the paper. You will also need a pencil + eraser. Use a light hand when drawing…it is easier to erase.

This is where you want to answer a few of those size questions— What size do I want for my final project? What is this being used for? Does it need to be longer than my hand {hot pad}…etc. Read your notes on what your ideas are to get this figured out.

Even though there is snow on the ground— I still believe in Springtime!!! How about a quick tutorial on how to make the spring posies quilt block. It is a simple and easy pattern for beginners. Give it try and maybe if enough of us make one we will speed the snow away and bring the sunshine back! Get stitching girls— I am tired of winter weather.

Coming up with new ideas is not a problem wih me. I have a plethera of ideas constantly flowing from the mind to any scratch paper I can get my hands on. I have a dedicated book that handles most of the doodles—but sometimes it is just whatever I can get my hands on. The problem then becomes -making it real.

Because of Focus Friday we are going to start a little series on How to Make a Pattern. How to take the ideas that are just doodled and make them into a pattern to share, sell, or make real items just for yourself. How do you make a Quilt Pattern? How do you make a Patchwork Craft Pattern? How do you make a Stuffed Animal or Plus Pattern? How do you make a Tutorial from your own Pattern?

Girls– IT’S FOCUS FRIDAY and the last post on How to bind a Quilt!!!!

This is where the non-traditional Binding of Quilts comes in. This last day is going to be filled with ways to bind a quilt, but really it is how to do something different so you don’t have to bind a quilt. hee hee I am useing the word ‘binding’ very loosly here. Don’t get all huffy on me now. I know technically it isn’t a true bind, but get over it. The quilt gets finished and the edge is cute. I am trying to show you that you don’t have to do the traditional binding to have a beautiful finished quilt…..and to tell you the truth- sometimes these little edgeing are cuter than the ‘traditional’. So get your outside the box glasses on and take a look at what else we can do to those edges. These tutorials are great. Perfect patterns for beginners and advanced sewers.

Today we have the one that I use all the time….the classic rollover. I know, you might think that this is a cop-out, but really it is truly a bind and lookes like a bind. On the front. hee hee

I don’t do needle turn applique–not sure if I ever will, but that is besides the point. It is a great tutorial, and she is one of the designers for Patchwork Posse Premium members.
