How’s your summer starting off?!
While we are prepping for a big trip (going to Europe- no kids), I have been putting together a few things that I could possibly sew while traveling.
One of the best things are hexagons….so, I have gathered quite a bit, cut what I need, even glued the fabric – so they are ready to grab and stitch. Not really sure how many I’ll be able to do. I am trying my hand at following the Kingfisher quilt along. We’ll see how it goes!
Sometimes sewing while traveling is tricky. Hoping I can figure out a schedule and process for it.

today’s topic cute skirts & accessories
With the heat coming, having a few cute skirts and accessories is kind of a must! Stitching them up for the girls is a great way to spend the afternoon.
They aren’t super difficult- and very forgiving with the elastic waist bands….and there are so many options when it comes to the fabric! If you have larger pieces of fabric, it’s even easier! But the smaller ones are just fine as well- and give the skirts lots of character.

8 1/2 inch wide 19 long 9 strips {or how ever many you would like to make your skirt with}
For this Patchwork Skirt I only had strips of fabric and not a full piece that would work for the front and back. The solution so I could use this fabric- sew the strips together! I had thought about cutting up the fabric into squares, but decided that sometimes long strips to show off the fabric would be super fun and who am I kidding, easier.
The idea with a patchwork skirt is to sew enough strips, or squares or little bits of whatever together until they measure the size needed for the skirt. You can sew a line of fabric {making your matching skills take it easy when sewing up the summer skirt} or you can mix and match fabric and designs so it is a more scrappy looking skirt.
