Summer travel is well on it’s way and what is the best thing to keep everyone up to date with where we are heading– DIY postcards. Back in the day I used to do a lot of fabric postcard swaps. They are a bunch of fun and a great way to show off a smaller UFO Quilt Block.
The typical size {or one that i use} is a standard postcard size: 4″ X 6″. You could create your own postcard, make that 2 postcards with one quilt block! If it isn’t quite big enough, just add a few borders- and you have it done. Pretty simple, don’t you think?
The full tutorial was posted back in the day– DIY postcards using fabric.
The process is pretty simple, but you do need to have peltex or timtex. That’s is like an interfacing which gives it strength to go through the mail. The backside is cardstock, and you can use your serger or zig zag around the outside edges.
If you have a few that are hanging around that you can fussy cut, those are perfect! Take a look at the examples below for ideas-
If you don’t have any UFO Quilt Blocks that would work for the diy postcards- Heather from The Sewing Loft, has a great tutorial on using scrap fabric postcards. Go take a look.
