Let’s make a cover for those travel tissues! This simple and quick 5 minute tissue holder pattern only uses two fabrics and is perfect for making for gifts, sewing friends and just having around in your home.
Feel free to mix and match your fabrics, use scraps from your stash and even personalize them for your friends.
If you’ve been looking for a quick gift – this is one! It doesn’t take much in fabric and supplies (nothing special) and should take you under 10 minutes from start to finish.
Depending on the size of your travel tissue pack, you’ll maybe want to adjust the size that you cut your two pieces of fabric.

Choosing Fabric for this project:
I used scraps from my quilting cotton stash. You can choose other fabric, but because there are folded pieces – the layers do get a bit thick so I would stay away from using heavier fabric.
I’ve seen these covers made with fun calicos and solids as well. And, I’ve seen some where all the fabric was the same print. The twist isn’t as noticeable because you don’t have the contrast of different prints, but it’s still super cute.
TO MAKE ONE TISSUE HOLDER, YOU WILL NEED:
- 2 rectangles of fabric, 6” x 8”
- Purple Thang Tool
- I used the cheap tissues found at the dollar store – you can use the Kleenex brand as well.

The finished tissue holders are approximately 3” x 5”.

5 Minute Travel Tissue Holder Pattern

Step 1- Lay right sides together your two pieces of fabric

Step 2- Mark on one side an opening 2-3″ for turning

Step 3- Sew all the way around the rectangle, leaving that 2″ opening. Snip your corners

Step 4- Turn right sides out. Push the corners out so they lay nicely

Step 4- Press the whole rectangle so it lays flat

Step 5- Fold the piece in half and press

Step 6- Fold one side to the center, lining up the edge with the center crease and pin to secure

Step 7- Repeat with the other side, folding to the center crease and pinning in place. Overlap the ends just a little bit – like a 1/4″

Step 8- Sew on both ends

Step 9- Turn right sides out, use the purple thang to push out those corners – there is a little bit of bulk to deal with

Step 10- Stuff your tissues inside

Thanks Becky for this great scrapbuster beginner project. I had some lefover lobster claw clasps from the pandemic. I have decided to incorporate them in your tissue holder and donate them to my sister’s church bazaar.
Keep sharing your ideas, I love to use my scraps and hate to throw them out♥
I love this idea and making these small projects for church bazaars are perfect!
