If you have a nice collection of fat quarters – from one fabric line or multiple, it’s time to unfold, press and getting using them!
These lap quilt patterns using fat quarters is perfect for your fabric line collection or even your one off scrappy random buys.
Fat quarters are usually 18″ x 22″ which is half the width of fabric (44″).
A few of these lap quilt patterns are perfect for large print fabrics, or even fun prints that you are just not wanting to cut up into small pieces.
First here are the Quilt sizes of the typical mattresses:
Standard Beds: (Mattress sizes)
Crib 27 x 46 inches
Twin/Day bed 39 x 75 inches
Full/ Double 54 x 75 inches
Queen 60 x 80 inches
Standard King 76 x 80 inches
A nice throw size quilt is 50″ x 65″, but any width and length between 50″ – 70″ can be considered throw size. Throws are typically associated with casual use around the house.
They are a great size to try a few new patterns, designs and just have fun. They are used, washed and loved some more – so there is no need to keep them super fancy or complicated.
While I haven’t added any here, you could try a new technique out with this size of a quilt as well.
