What is a jelly roll?
It’s a strip of fabric that is cut the width of the fabric. They come in pre-cut fabrics (some batik, some from other designers). You can also cut your own jelly roll strips instead of using the precut strip set. Besides the jelly roll, there are other precuts including layer cakes, charm packs and even small 2 inch squares.
What is Batik?
Batik is a style of dying the fabric. There usually is a variety of colors or different colors in one piece of fabric – orange batik, cream batik, featuring a unique pattern and design. There can be bright batik fabric as well – so not all is darker or dull in color.
Using jelly rolls makes for an easy project and will take less time as you won’t be cutting all the strips.
