I have always been interested in English paper piece…especially in the shape of a hexagon.
Such a fun and somewhat simple project.
It’s perfect for hauling around in a project bag while you travel. You aren’t packing around a ton of heavy fabric, just a little pile of bits big enough to cover your template.
How to English Paper Piece~
1- print and cut out your template (interested in hexagons? Here is a set of 12 sizes)
2- lay your template on the wrong side of the fabric
3- pin or glue to keep in place
4- trim fabric around the template 1/8″ to 1/4″
5- fold over one side of fabric, finger press
6- fold over second side of fabric and take two stitches in the corner picking up each side of fabric. DON’T stitch through the paper!
7- fold the next side and take two stitches again
8- repeat with each side until the template is covered by fabric
9- take a few stitches at the end to secure
