- Paper piecing – here’s a quick look at using half square triangle paper rolls
Step 1 – Pull the cap with the felt tip off and fill the handle with water. It does not take a lot of water!
Step 2- Using the felt tip run it along the stitch line
Step 3- Let the water absorb into the paper
Step 4- Place your finger on the corner or beginning of the stitch line prior to pulling on the paper so you don’t pull the stitch out
Step 5- Tear the paper off
Step 6- Use the water pen to dampen any paper that is left and remove it
Step 7- Finish squaring up your half square triangles or any other paper piecing blocks you are working on
Foundation Piecing Water Pen Video – how to use
I’ve tried a lot of things in the past for removing paper while paper piecing and this seriously is the best thing to have on hand.
It does come as a set and so you are able to keep on in your travel bag as well as in your sewing studio! (or you could share with a friend)
There are other water pens (for water color and art) but this tip is the best and will hold up to drawing not just on the paper but also on the stitching. Thread is a little rougher and can damage the end. This seems to hold up really well.
