Today we will be sewing up the dark blocks!
They are simple enough– hint: sew next to the drawn line, not directly on top. This will allow the corner to be the right size and won’t cause you problems with the block in the next step!
They should measure 4 1/2″ square— if you need to trim a tiny bit after sewing, then go right ahead.
Dark Blocks~
36 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 dark
36 2 1/2 X 2 1/2 background- corners of blocks
Dark Block:
Draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the 2 1/2 square
1) Place the small background 2 1/2 square right sides on one corner of the 4 1/2 dark square
2) Sew just on the side of the drawn line, cut off remainder triangle and iron
*if you’d like, you can sew 1/2″ from the sewn line and then cut in between the lines for a half square triangle! This is a great way to get a fun free block for another project or to stick somewhere on the back.
