Summer Solar Eclipse Quilt Along~ Center
Materials Needed:
Lights:
1– 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ center block
1– 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ – smaller flying geese background
1 7 1/2 X 7 1/2 – larger flying geese background
4 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 corner squares
Darker lights:
1– 6″ X 6″ – points of smaller flying geese
4– 2″ X 2″ – corners
1 9 X 9 – points of large flying geese
Block Center smaller outer points / flying geese units~

Use the 4 1/2″ and 6″ squares for the smaller flying geese units:
1- Lay right sides together, the smaller square on top of the larger square
2- Draw a line from corner to corner diagonally- on the wrong side
3- Sew on both sides of the line 1/4″ seam
4- Cut on the drawn line
5- Iron
6- Lay them together again- right sides facing with the darks opposite of each other
*DO NOT line up the center seam. You will be lining up the OUTSIDE edges only
7- Draw another line from corner to corner on the wrong side- the line will go right across that seam
8- Sew on both sides of the line 1/4″ seam
9- Cut on the drawn line
10- Iron well
11- Square up your flying geese to 2″ X 3 1/2″
12- Lay the block out and sew together the rows, then the rows to make the block. Use the 2″ corner squares
Block Center outer points~

Use the 7 1/2″ and 9″ squares for these larger flying geese units~
1- Lay right sides together, the smaller square on top of the larger square
2- Draw a line from corner to corner diagonally- on the wrong side
3- Sew on both sides of the line 1/4 seam
4- Cut on the drawn line
5- Iron
6- Lay them together again- right sides facing with the darks opposite of each other
*DO NOT line up the center seam. You will be lining up the OUTSIDE edges only
7- Draw another line from corner to corner on the wrong side- the line will go right across that seam
8- Sew on both sides of the line 1/4 seam
9- Cut on the drawn line
10- Iron well
11- Square up your flying geese to 3 1/2 X 6 1/2
12- Lay the block out and sew together the rows, then the rows to make the block. Use the 3 1/2″ corner squares
