Quilt Block Instructions:
1- Lay out your fabric. To help me keep track of what fabric I was using for what block, I laid the colors out. Then I cut each piece out. This helped me keep track, especially when I made each block with a different color.
2- Sew the half square triangles together and press. You’ll be laying right sides together the color with the background square. Mark on the wrong side of the background fabric a line from corner to corner. Sew on both sides of this drawn line a 1/4″ seam. Cut on the drawn line – this will give you TWO half square triangles.
3- Trim your half square triangles to the correct size:
Large HST= 2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″
Small HST= 1 1/2″ X 1 1/2″
4- Lay the block out – notice that the outer blocks have a large 2 1/2″ half square triangle – the inner blocks that make the pinwheel have NO large HST, but 3 small HST and one HST that will become your pinwheel
*notice that you’ll have 1 large HST and 1 small HST leftover and not included in the block / set those aside for another project
**this is showing Block 1 – Block 2 will NOT have that big HST because that’s where the pinwheel will be!
5- Trim your blocks to 3 1/2″ X 3 1/2″
Block #1:
Block #2: (which has the pinwheel section)
6- Lay your quilt blocks out to make the quilt top – sew together
7- Press your top and prep it for quilting
