The fun thing with a mug rug pattern is that you can adjust it for whatever size you like! The typical size is around 7 1/2″ X 9 1/2″ but if you have some quilt blocks that would make nice little rugs for your mug, then use it. Keep it simple and you will be a lot happier.
I tend to not worry about being to matchy-matchy, but if you have a few quilt blocks that are the same fabrics you could make yourself a set. Perfect for giving for presents {christmas is coming quicker than we realize!}.
You can substitute any quilt block for the measurements they give. Go ahead and border your blocks with some charm squares or strips to make them not so– here is my UFO Quilt block and I made a mug rug with it.
