This little modern mini quilt is so simple to sew! Use your own half square triangles from a previous project or sitting in your stash.
No half square triangles lying about? That’s fine too- they are quick to sew up.
There are a couple of videos that will help you along as well. How to square up your half square triangles and how to bind the quilt using the backing fabric.

Modern Mini Quilt Instructions~
1) lay right sides together the 2 1/2″ squares- background and color
2) Draw a line on the wrong side of the background fabric from corner to corner
3) Stitch on either side of the drawn line with a 1/4″ seam allowance

4) Cut on the drawn line

10) Sew to the sides of the center

11) Sew the outside border backgrounds to the new center
12) Layer with batting and backing and quilt as you’d like
13) Bind the quilt
yes- you’ll have one half square triangle left over. Use it on the back of the quilt!
Finishing the Quilt
1. Cut or piece together your batting and a piece of quilt backing fabric.
2. Make a quilt sandwich with the backing, batting, and top.
3. Baste together with fusible batting, pins or basting spray.
3. Quilt as desired. A few of my favorite ways to quilt are Straight line quilting or cross hatch quilting. Use a walking foot on your sewing machine. Trim away the extra batting and backing.
4. Cut strips of fabric for the binding. Cut 2 1/2” tall (sometimes I use 2 1/4″) binding strips. Sew the binding strips together and bind using your favorite technique.
