Designer Spotlight – Timna Tarr

How did you get your start in sewing?

My mom made me learn to sew when I was about 6. I hated it. She made me make some clothes etc. off and on through high school. I still hated it. It wasn’t until I made my first quilt when I was out of college that I became interested in sewing.

Where do you find inspiration? 

Anywhere and everywhere. Fabric, antiques, interesting junk mail – it’s all fair game.

Do you have a favorite or a few favorite notions? What are they?

Freezer paper, Oliso Iron, wool mat

Tell us about the project your currently working on.

What are your favorite parts of quilting?

Color and design. I still don’t love sewing – it’s a means to an end.

Give us a quirky fact about yourself 🙂

Not exactly quirky, but I love terrible reality tv. It’s good to sew to.

What interests do you pursue when you’re not quilting?

Going to live music, always have some home improvement project in progress
