We’re starting the Starlit Meadow Block of the Month with one of my favorite classic designs — the Double Star block. It’s bold, balanced, and the perfect way to kick things off.
Each block finishes at 12 ½” x 12 ½” (unfinished), and this month you’ll be sewing four of them.

This block uses the 4-at-a-time flying geese method, which means it comes together quickly once you get into the rhythm. It’s a great chance to get comfortable with accurate trimming and pressing so all those star points meet up just right.
In the video for this month, I’ll walk you through the flying geese process, how to keep your points sharp, and how to assemble the two layers of stars so everything lines up neatly.
Be sure to watch that step-by-step tutorial before you dive in.
Helpful tip: On one side of the block, the two outer corners use your second background fabric. This creates a soft shimmer effect in the overall layout, so double-check placement before you stitch those corners down.
Once you’ve made your four blocks, give them a good press, stack them flat, and share your progress!
Drop a photo in the gallery, post inside the community, or show off your version on social — we’d all love to see your fabric choices and finished stars.
Can’t wait to see your Starlit Meadow sparkle!
Here’s another look at the block – in a different fabric layout.
