I picked up a few mouse pads at an event and while they work really well, I didn’t want all the promotional stuff on it. It’s so simple to fabric cover your mouse pad! You’ll need just a few supplies and under 10 minutes to get this complete.
Have you ever looked at your mouse pad and thought, “Wow, this could really use a glow-up”? Same here! I mean, we spend so much time at our desks—why not make it a little prettier?
That’s where this super quick and easy fabric-covered mouse pad project comes in. It’s perfect for adding a bit of personality to your workspace, and the best part? No sewing required. (Yes, you can put the needle and thread down for this one.)

In less than 10 minutes, you can turn a boring old mouse pad into something totally custom and gift-worthy. Seriously, this is the kind of project that’ll have your friends asking, “Where did you buy that?” And you get to say, “Oh, this? I made it!”
So grab your favorite fabric, and let’s give your mouse pad a fabulous makeover—it deserves it.
Materials Needed:
- mouse pad
- fabric fat quarter
- fray check
- iron

Fabric Covered Mouse Pad

1- Using the mouse pad as your template, check that your fusible piece is large enough to cover all the edges and sides

2- With a hot iron, fuse to your fabric on the WRONG side

3- Using the mat again as the template, lay on the paper side of your fused fabric and trace around the whole shape with a pencil

4- Using scissors or your rotary, cut on the drawn line

5- Remove all lint, thread or whatever from the right side of the mouse pad. Lay your fused fabric, wrong sides on the right side of the pad

6- Carefully fuse the fabric to the mouse pad. You don’t want the iron to scorch your fabric or melt the mouse pad. It shouldn’t, but don’t have the iron on really hot to avoid any issues

7- Use fray check around the whole outside edge of the pad to make sure those little threads don’t get pulled and ravel
And there you have it—a brand-new, fabulous mouse pad that’s totally you! Who knew something so simple could make such a difference in your workspace? Whether you’re keeping this beauty for yourself or gifting it to a lucky friend, it’s proof that even the smallest projects can pack a big punch.
This fabric-covered mouse pad isn’t just functional—it’s a little piece of joy to brighten your day every time you sit down at your computer. Plus, you did it all in under 10 minutes. Take a moment to pat yourself on the back for being both crafty and efficient!
Got any fabric scraps left over? Maybe it’s time to customize your whole desk setup—coasters, pencil holders, you name it. The possibilities are endless.
