Bee Pillow Pattern – Fresh, Fun & Perfect for Spring
If you’re ready for something light, cheerful, and a little different—this project is going to be a fun one.
This Bee Pillow is a sweet mix of techniques, combining a paper pieced bee, simple patchwork blocks, and a touch of fusible applique for the leaves.
It’s one of those projects that looks detailed but comes together in a really manageable way. The finished pillow measures 18″, making it just right for a chair, bench, or adding a little seasonal touch to your space.

What Makes This Bee Pillow So Fun
This project is all about mixing a few techniques without it feeling overwhelming. You’ll create four blocks total—each one bringing in a little something different.
The bee blocks are paper pieced (don’t worry, I walk you through it), and the companion blocks are simple patchwork that balances everything out nicely.
The leaves are added using fusible applique, which gives the pillow that soft, springy feel without adding a complicated step.
Before assembling the pillow, it’s layered with batting and quilted using your walking foot.
This is a great chance to play with simple quilting lines and add texture without needing anything fancy.

Skill Level & Construction Notes
This is a confident beginner to intermediate project, depending on your experience with paper piecing.
If you’re new to it, this is a great introduction—you’ll only be making a few units, so it’s very approachable. The rest of the project keeps things simple and balanced.
The walking foot quilting is straightforward and a nice way to finish each block before putting everything together.
Take it one block at a time, and it all comes together easier than you think.

Perfect For…
•Spring decorating
• Trying out (or practicing) paper piecing
• Using up smaller fabric pieces
• A quick weekend project with a little variety
• A handmade gift that feels extra special
This pillow is one of those projects that feels fresh and a little playful—something different from the usual, but still simple enough to enjoy the process.
