If your scrap bin is overflowing with teeny-tiny pieces you aren’t sure what to do with, crumb quilting is about to be your new favorite project. This technique is all about piecing together those little “crumbs” of fabric to create beautifully scrappy layouts. It is not only a fantastic way to stretch your fabric budget, but it also adds a unique pop of personality to your sewing.
By chain-sewing your smallest leftovers, you build entirely new, larger pieces of fabric that are ready to be used for crumb blocks, accent pieces, or substantial projects. If you want to speed things up, the mile-a-minute method is my go-to variation. It keeps the momentum going and clears out the scrap bin in no time. It’s the perfect way to minimize waste and make sure every single inch of your favorite fabric gets its moment to shine.
