Brooke has joined us during the monthly meetups- so you may have seen and chatted with her already!
What I have noticed already is that she loves to play with novelty or fun conversation fabric. Her patterns and fabric choices are full of color and shapes.

I’m excited to share what she designed for the group this month!

She also offers some online classes as well, you’ll have to check those out.

Here’s a bit more about Brooke:

Fresh and Fun is the focus for Silly Mama Quilts. This shop and blog was born out of a difficult time in my life when my brother passed away 8+ years ago. As a way to shower his wife and children with love, I made quilts and quilted projects. I so enjoyed working with fabrics and colors that they liked and were outside my comfort zone.

I then became passionate about creating fun and fresh projects. The wide variety of fabrics and designers makes this an amazing job. I currently design projects for Melissa Ybarra/Iza Pearl Design, Carrie Bloomston, Alison Glass, Sandra Clemons and Gina Martin Design.

About the project for the quilt group:

The project I designed especially for this group started with a comment my Mom makes – there are lots of projects to make using squares and rectangles. I designed three blocks that could be used in a variety of projects or stand alone.

They are perfect for scraps or planned. I love smaller projects, so if you sew them together, they make a wonderful table runner.

Building Blocks

Finished Size: Whatever size you want it to be! 🙂

Materials:

Scraps are perfect! The largest size I believe you would need would be a 7 inch square.

The Night Sky Mystery Quilt Block

My block for the BOM features one of my “go to” techniques – improv star.

I love it because the points don’t have to be perfect!

~ Enjoy her interview ~

How did you get your start in sewing?

My Mom taught me when I was little. I then picked it back up again when the quilting boom started in the late 80’s.

What inspires you?

All sorts of things…especially when my kids ask if I could make them something.

Do you have a favorite notion?

I love my creative grid ruler and aurifil thread. Not really much of a notion gal.

What’s coming up for you that we can check out~

I have designed projects for Sandra Clemons and Carrie Bloomston recently. I think Carrie is working on her next line, so I am excited to see it!

Quirky or fun fact about yourself?

I love to get out and bike ride, no matter the weather!
