If you enjoy decorating for the seasons, this project is going to be a lot of fun.
The Seasonal Ribbon Banner is a quick project that lets you create something colorful, personal, and easy to change throughout the year. Whether you hang it on your front door, porch, sewing room, or inside your home, it’s a simple way to add a handmade touch for every season.
The banner features a 12″ quilt block at the top, with ribbons, fabric strips, lace, and trims hanging below to catch the breeze and add lots of movement.
Best of all, you get to choose the look that fits your style, season or holiday.

What Makes This Ribbon Banner So Fun
This project includes four different quilt block designs, so you can make a banner for every season—or simply pick your favorite.

Choose from:
- A cheerful flower with applique
- A cozy winter snowflake
- A classic basket
- A timeless star
Each block brings its own personality, and your fabric choices can completely change the look. Bright spring florals, patriotic prints, autumn colors, Christmas fabrics… the possibilities are endless.
The ribbons and fabric strips are where you can really have fun. Mix together leftover fabric strips, ribbon, lace, ric-rac, trim, or anything else you’ve been saving. No two banners will ever look exactly alike, and that’s part of the charm.

Skill Level & Construction Notes
This is a beginner-friendly project that comes together quickly.
The banner starts with a 12″ block, and from there it’s simply a matter of adding the hanging sleeve and attaching your ribbons and fabric strips.
If you choose the flower block, you’ll also get to practice a little applique, while the other block options are traditionally pieced.
It’s an easy afternoon project, or one you can finish over a relaxing weekend while playing with fabrics and trims.

Perfect For…
- Decorating your front porch or entryway
- Seasonal home decor
- Using leftover ribbons, lace, and fabric strips
- Trying applique or simple quilt blocks
- Making one for every season of the year
- Handmade gifts for family and friends
The Seasonal Ribbon Banner is one of those projects that’s hard to make just one of. Once you finish your first, you’ll probably start thinking about fabrics for the next season before you’ve even hung it up.
And when you’ve finished yours, be sure to share it inside the community. I’d love to see which block you chose, what fabrics you used, and all the creative ribbons and trims you found in your stash.
