Today is such a treat. We are kicking off the 2018 year with talent with our first guest designer!!
This is Lori- I met her at quilt market this past year. She was signing her book Pioneer Quilts, which is a wonderful book!
We chatted for a minute about antique quilts and the collection that her family has. It is truly a beautiful collection of quilts and you will want to check them out if you have an opportunity to see them in person.
They are beautiful. The pattern she is sharing is of course a reflection of this passion for classic quilts and being in a pillow size- perfect for trying your hand at applique if you are interested.
About the project for the quilt group:
Sometimes you just need a quick project, as a hostess gift or to practice a new technique. The project is also super practical as you can trade out the pillow covers to fit your holiday or season.
Materials:
12 inch pillow form
1/2 yard of fabric
thread
quilt block

Scavenger Hunt BOM Quilt Block: it’s a mystery!! members are getting a look at it and sewing it up for the BOM.
Enjoy her interview~ *quilts shown are part of her collection and traveling shows
How did you get your start in sewing?
My mother taught me to sew, but my grandmother helped me do my first piecing.
What inspires you?
Nature, travel, art
Do you have a favorite notion?
My most recent favorite notion is a fabric glue stick, it makes my paper piecing go so much faster!
Fun, quirky fact about yourself~
One of the plays I wrote received a National Endowment of the Arts American Masterpiece Award.
What’s coming up for you that we can check out~
Lots of fun things coming up, but the one that seems to grab most people’s attention…In April, I’m teaching workshops in the Netherlands.
