Today we are moving beyond the center and adding our borders for the Garden Walk Quilt Along – June.

If you have chosen to finish your quilt, that’s fine too.

The outer borders feature some super simple nine patch quilt blocks and four star quilt blocks.

They are set in a corner, not on point– but they do have triangles along the sides of the nine patch quilt blocks and on the top of the star quilt blocks.

These blocks will only take a couple of months, and then we will be setting the whole quilt top together! So exciting!

So, for today- let’s focus on the nine patch quilt blocks.

There are eight of them– 2 per corner.

Materials:

Fabric for the blocks, fabric for the triangle setting pick it up at Connecting threads or Fat Quarter Shop

Supplies you may need:

Rotary cutter or a new sharp blade
Cutting Mat
Quilt Ruler
Sewing Machine this brother is my favorite!
Iron here or here
Thread
Bobbins
Scissors
Seam Ripper not my favorite thing to do!

GARDEN WALK QUILT ALONG ASSIGNMENT:

1- Sew up 8- Nine Patch Quilt Blocks

2- Sew the setting triangles to the outside of the Nine Patch Quilt Blocks

3- Set aside for later

Garden Walk

25″ X 25″ / 56″ X 56″

ABOUT THE QUILT:

Layout option #1: Center only. You’ll be ending this quilt top with a finished size of 25″ X 25″
June will be the last step for just this option.

Layout option #2: Full quilt top. You’ll be ending this quilt top with a finished size of 56″ X 56″
This option will go from July to October.

Materials list has all supplies needed for both layouts.
Applique: choose either wool or cotton fabric applique. Applique templates don’t have seam allowance added.
When using cotton for applique you can use heat-n-bond lite to secure your fabric.
If you are using needle turn applique, cut your fabric 1/4″ larger than the templates.
