This month we’re sewing the basket quilt block for Starlit Meadow.
There are 4 blocks to sew, and they will become the corner blocks in the quilt. I love when a block has a specific “home” in the layout — it makes the quilt start to feel like it’s really coming together.
This block is easy to sew, but it has such a sweet look when it’s finished. The basket section is made with simple piecing, and the little floral corner gives it that extra bit of charm.
Watch the step-by-step video, download the PDF pattern, and sew along at your own pace.
Can’t wait to see your Starlit Meadow baskets!

A Closer Look at the June Block
This basket block is a fun mix of larger fabric pieces and smaller pieced units.
You’ve got:
- A large basket section
- Half-square triangles for the basket base and handle area
- Smaller squares and triangles for the flower section
- Background pieces that help the basket shape stand out
The block looks more detailed than it really is, which is always my favorite kind of block.

A Few Helpful Tips Before You Sew
Lay out your pieces before sewing.
There are a few directional pieces in this block, so take a minute to make sure everything is facing the right way.
Watch your half-square triangles.
Trim them if needed and double check the direction before stitching your rows together.
Use the video as you sew.
The PDF gives you the measurements and steps, but the video walks you through the block so you can see how the pieces come together.
Make all four blocks assembly-line style.
Cut everything first, sew the same units together, then build each block. It makes the process quicker and keeps the blocks consistent.
