I’m super excited to share the BOM for 2022 – Dutch Garden. This quilt is a medallion style quilt along starting in January 2022 with picking fabric to December 2022.
You’ll have a full year to sew the sections, blocks together with video tutorials and community to help along the way.
In January, we will be having a special meetup just for the BOM where you can ask questions, chat with a few who have already sewn the quilt and get clear on what fabrics you want to use!
Let’s talk about your fabric choice for the 2022 BOM Dutch Garden. I’ll show off what I used as well as walk you through some of the blocks and how I used the fabric that I chose.
Feel free to pick two colors – one red or your favorite color and one background. Or you can go with digging through your scraps or using the fabric you have on hand.
No matter your choice, we are here to help you all along the way. We kick things off January 18, 2022 with a virtual meetup with a few who have sewn the quilt.
You are able to ask questions, get feedback on your fabric choice as well as hear their best tips for sewing this quilt.

Picking Fabric for the Dutch Garden Block of the Month
The Dutch Garden quilt is the Block of the Month for 2022. Starting in January – ending in December.
January – materials gathering, February – first sewing starts!
Patterns / Sections are released the first Tuesday of each month. Pdf’s will be provided so you can save & print if you’d like.
Each month you’ll be sewing blocks for the full quilt, completing the top by the end of the year!
The center block features applique and there are some repeating blocks in the medallion style quilt.
Finished Quilt Size: 72″ X 72″
Materials List:
4 1/2 yards – Background fabric
2 3/4 yards – Main color
Your main color can be one fabric, or it can be a combination of fabrics that read as the same color. I wasn’t too worried about using one fabric for my one. I mixed it up a bit with different designs, patterns and some tones of colors.
Background can be again one fabric, or combination of fabric. I used 2 packs of fat eights and found that the center block wasn’t able to be made because I didn’t have a large enough piece to get 18″ from. So, I pieced my center block- that will be chatted over later.
Feel free to dive into your stash and use what you already have. If you need to add to it, that’s totally fine as well – or if you want to go all new fabric, nobody is stopping you! Have some fun! The quilt will look wonderful no matter what fabrics and color you have chosen.
