Three’s Company Materials List and FAQ’s

Today is the Materials list for the Block of the Month – Three’s Company!

I’m so excited to get this kicked off!  Today we will be gathering our materials, deciding what fabrics we are going to be using and making sure we have enough to get started.

I did use a jelly roll plus a background and it worked out fine. A lot of the pieces you’ll cut are 2 1/2″ and the jelly roll does help make it go a little quicker.

Before we begin, I would love to run over a few FAQ’s to help you get some clarity on things:

I’m sewing along, do I need to sign up?

While there isn’t a need to sign up for it, we will send you email reminders if you do.  All the information will be on the blog, here, so you’ll just have to visit every month to get the instructions.  If you sign up, we’ll help you remember.

Is this free or is there a charge?

Every block is free for the month it’s shared.  When the new block is posted, the previous block will be available for purchase for a small fee. So, it’s free if you download the patterns monthly, only cost is if you miss a month- you’ll pay a small fee for those.

What if I miss it when it’s free?

All the blocks will still be available, but for a small $2.00 fee.  If you are finding that you can’t remember, please sign up for the email so you don’t miss it. Previous patterns won’t be sent even it’s the most colorful excuse.

What else comes with this?

This has been supplied to previous quilt alongs, so they will be here as well.  You’ll get 1 coloring sheet pdf plus a tracking sheet.

—> If you want to kick it up a notch, you can purchase the spiral bound Patchwork Planner & Calendar for keeping track of everything on the calendar and the pages it provides.

What’s the schedule?

On the last Wednesday of each month, I’ll be sharing that month’s block right here on the blog, and sharing any particular tips or tricks to remember. There aren’t really any complicated blocks, but I’ll still help you along the way.

The month’s pattern will be available to download for free in the shop, for that month. On the last Wednesday of the next month it will still be available but for a small price, and the next month’s block will then be available as a free download. So you will have a whole month to download the block before it becomes a paid pattern.

ABOUT THE QUILT:

It features 9 quilt blocks….but within each block there are 3 blocks. So they will take just a little bit longer to sew- so we will be sewing them together on a monthly schedule.

It’s at a pace that you should be able to keep up on.  There are 3 smaller blocks inside each block, but they are the same– so you’ll be repeat sewing or you can sew them in a chain sort of way to save on time.

The blocks are all set the same as well, so again, while the blocks are bigger- they are manageable to sew on a monthly basis.

MONTHLY ASSIGNMENT:

This months download includes:  the coloring sheet for the quilt, a tracking sheet with the steps and notes spot, quick info on the BOM, Materials list and the cutting instructions for the setting of the quilt blocks.

    Hi Jacqueline,
I just found the download in the text of the post. Look for the paragraph headed “What’s the Schedule?” There you will find a highlighted phrase “in the shop.” Click on that and it will take you to the steps to download all the things you’re looking for. I just printed mine and I’m ready to go!!! Good luck.
    Happy Stitching,

    Hi Becky!
Just down loaded the material and cutting directions. This will be my first full size quilt. Looking forward to learning a lot and having a great time doing it! Picking out the colors might just be the hardest part! Thanks in advance for putting this together and sharing your expertise.

Based on the number of squares to be cut from the jelly roll – not all strips are needed. I was wondering if it would be best to cut some of the squares from all of the jelly roll strips for variety and save the left over pieces for later. I hate to start cutting before I know for sure. What do you think? Thanks!

that’s a great idea. There are some leftover, but this is the best way to get all the variety. Can’t wait to see how yours turns out!

I’m new at this, and a little confused, but the finished block from the “block #1 instructions” doesn’t match the image of the first block on the coloring sheet page.
