This week for the 52 UFO Quilt Block Pick up I thought that putting together a few little piles of scraps and making a sewing needle case would be perfect for starting out the year right! It’s all about keeping things organized, put in their right place…and using up what we already have around so we can buy more later. Of course.

Needle Keepers
great for grab and go!
I understand that a few of these aren’t totally scrappy and we are working with UFO Quilt Blocks. Let me help you out a little.
The scrappy idea, like the last one tutorial…. is to sew all your scraps to a backing fabric, like muslin or something ‘cheap’. Then after you have filled up the space you cut it to the correct size.

*This can be done using your UFO Quilt Blocks. Start with a star or something a little larger than your small scraps and add around that. Cut to the correct size mentioned for the needle keeper not worrying about keeping that block perfectly centered or complete. Start by looking at their dimensions listed on their tutorial- then find that size or smaller of a UFO Quilt block and add scraps from there.
There is also one with ric-rac across the front. Please by all means dig through your embellishment drawer too! I know there are a few inches of this and that left over just waiting to join the UFO Quilt Blocks in something finished!
Along with being scrappy and using up those scrappy embellishments too {ric rac, buttons, ribbon} do a few stitches or quilting. Don’t be afraid to get a little ‘artsy’ with your designs. These little pieces are small works of art and are the perfect size to explore a little bit more creatively. Make up a bunch and have them ready to go for quick ‘go to’ presents.

You can use this last tutorial as how to sew your UFO Quilt block to your additional scraps that you found. Use the above tutorials for additional embelishments, sizes….ect. Have Fun!
