Today I get to share a great project from the Just for You book. I was able to meet Caroline and Sarah last fall at Quilt Market- I even attended their School house event and helped out in their runway- showing off the projects from the book. Too fun!
The project that I sewed up was the travel pouch. Such a simple project and great for packing with your passports and other travel goodies. The pouch folds in half and when open there are pocket on either side.
One large one to hold your passport and the other side has multiple pockets for other important things like pens, maps and whatever else you like to carry.
I figured because I’m not headed anywhere fun right now I would stuff it with some art goodies. Because the pockets face toward the center of the bag when it’s closed, nothing falls out.
When you sew the bag together the pockets aren’t sectioned, it’s one of the last steps. This lets you customize the pockets and make them the size that you would like.
The travel pouch is lined with a stabilizer giving it a bit more stiffness and shape- which I love. It isn’t a floppy pouch and holds it’s own.
The size is very similar to a clutch size. Great for a grab and go. And- perfect for stashing into your purse.
I chose to do a faker baker button on the top of the flap with a snap on the bottom. Not sure I placed it correctly though as it pops up just a bit more than I’d like. A quick little adjustment though will fix it.
This book is great. It’s full of projects that aren’t just bags, clothes, or whatever. There is a great variety and the instructions are perfect for any beginner sewist.
