May 12th, 2012 I have been feeling this lately. not sure why. I have been trying to take care of myself– eating better + the pepsi. Walking at least 3 times a week…..but to no avail. I am still lazy!
I feel soooo sluggish. Sometimes i seriously can't keep my eyes open.
This 'Lazy Girl' schedule has thrown me for a loop though. I haven't sewn anything. I haven't thought of sewing anything. I look on the computer with droopy eyes at more than enough ideas. Nothing.
I took some classes at HMQS- I am totally jazzed about sharing my new info and a few new must have's of course. But seriously i have 2 quilts that others are waiting for….they are sitting there. Staring at me blankly. mmm no energy.
I started trying to be a Real Estate Agent again. A few days at the office to take calls. or just sit there and work on different things.
My life is still going in loops. I can't keep up on things. I forget things. I loose track of time. I go places that are totally wrong {jerikas soccer game last week. had to rush to get her to the correct place because i didn't write it down right}. I even have alarms to remind me of the boys scout nights. sheesh. what is the deal? Maybe it has something to do with the shed falling on my head. But that was in Dec. Really this long for the brain to catch up?
On top of all that…..the rss feed for the blog isn't working. Can't tell if it ever really did. I have spent too much time trying to figure that one out- so, it will remain broke because the brain needs a rest.
I am switching a few things up on the blog- the .com and the newsletter. stay tuned for more information. Not that i am trying to complicate my life. On the contrary. I am doing a few new things to simplify it. As if that is really possible. smile. I can give it a shot though– right?!
My car sounds like a screaming banchee– it must be taking lessons from my quilting machine- when i drive down the street. That noise is louder than the radio for heaven's sake! Maybe it is reeking havok on my brain waves.
Art Market was last weekend and it sucked. Seriously though….how can i do well when i put things off and only sew 5 new things. again. lazy. Halalua that i made more than the booth fee though. phew.
Hopefully i have the time and place right on the calender— we are headed to the sister's home for some yummy dinner and excellent conversations.
So— lazy girl is complaining……but it really isn't anyone's fault but her own.

Row #9 is here! And it is a cutie!! Barbara from Stone Cottage Quilts has designed the row– Ant Picnic. Totally cute and wonderful, I tell you!!
Here is a bit about Barbara:
Stone Cottage Designs began in 1999, though I began designing quilts at least 20 years before that. I began quilting just this side of the last ice age.
My Grandma started my patchwork career with a 3" cardboard template and a pencil, which I promtly lost, so I changed to a ball point pen, which I shudder to think about today.
I didn't think it was very fair that I had to sew each block by hand when my older sister was able to use the sewing machine.

Oh boy those blocks with the wobbly half inch seams were something to behold. It only took 10+ years to finish, just in time to get married. I didn't understand about the quality of fabrics and threads back then. We used that first quilt to death, so it has long since disappeared, but it started me on a life long love of fabrics and fibers.
The pattern does have some applique, but if you'd like you can use the Raw Edge Applique Tutorial to make it a bit more whimsy-ish.

Thanks Barbara for sharing your wonderful talent with the rest of us! Please hop on over to Barbara's blog and say hello: Stone Cottage Quilts
and her website
This Round Robin is Free! Please share the pattern with Twitter, facebook or pin it! {easy buttons below} The more sewing along the funner it is.

Last year i went and took a few quilting classes, and shared a trunk show.
I think that what i love best is the variety of quilts that are shown and the techniques that are shared. I mean, it is a show totally about quilting, with the machine. So there are quilts quilted totally by the standard machine {which is what i did for years} and quilts that are totally shazamed by big machines.

This year I am taking these 3 classes:
208 Bluhming Background
Designs
3 Hour, Level: All, LECTURE/DEMO,
includes $18 kit fee, Design/Drawing Thurs, May 10, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Say goodbye to any conventional way of using stippling to fill in negative spaces on any quilt. This very unique, easy to execute
technique will have your creative juices flowing once you learn this very simple and easy to understand design concept. You would be able to add your own twist to Irena’s ideas. From very dense to allover, this unique technique is very forgiving and the visual effects are very impressive. No planning ahead and no marking are required. Handout fee includes laminated workbook & dry erase pen.
209 Block to Block Free-Motion
Quilting
2 Hour, Level: All, LECTURE/DEMO,
includes $5 handout fee, LA
Thurs, May 10, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Learn Pam’s secrets to custom quilting the fast and beautiful way. Save loads of time and discover that you don’t need all those special tools to do custom designs. Valuable information and designs will be provided in a workbook for each student to keep notes; follow along with Pam as she draws continous designs from block to block using the sashing and borders to make the least amount of stops. This class is for the serious quilter who want to save serious time.
233 Bodacious Borders
2 Hour, Level: All, HANDS-ON,
includes $5 handout fee, Design Thurs, May 10, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Do borders have you bogged down? Can’t keep ‘em in line? Tired of the same old border designs? Then this is the class for you! Using free motion quilting, templates and stencils, we’ll learn mark and no-mark methods and use registration lines. We’ll learn how to keep the borders straight, deal with fullness, choose the best designs and
learn when and how to turn the quilt.
I have decided that i do like to make up my own designs. I like to just go with the flow….but i find that the designs end up a little plain. Like the background is sparse or missing something. So, i am giving a few of these classes a try to see if i can figure out how to fill things in and using my own designs. Going beyond the meander or swirly swirls.
Last year i took classes on using rulers and a few templates and while i use them….i really don't enough. The freehand way is what i will go learn a bit better this year.
I will for sure have a trunk show after i get back and show off all the wonderful quilts that caught my eye. + share a few new things i got to see, use and maybe buy.
May 7th, 2012 I clicked a few times through the site and found that some of the patterns were all over the place {well, really only the round robins} and boy was it a mess and quiet confusing. So, I filtered through the noise and put them together in pdf form. That way you can just open, save and print off what you need…when you need it. No sense in hunting each post down and trying to get it all done that way.
So— here they all are– with the links + a quick little review photo of what they turned out to be:

Have you made on of the quilts? I would love it if you shared a photo of it in the gallery
Along with those updates I also updated the sidebar and added the latest free patterns and tutorials + I added these two quilts which were lost in links too!

now go and print off a few of them and get some sewing started!

May 4th, 2012 Hi everyone— I am thinking that i am a week late. not sure where my calendar went. Thought it was to be posted today….um. nope last week. Sheesh! It just gave us some extra time to stitch up the last few rows though. Right? lol In defense of Peggy– i have had the pattern the whole time! It was me who didn't have it posted on time. Spank me 3 times. So sorry!

Here is a bit about Peggy:
I taught Vocational Home Economics for 11 years in Ohio then moved to Kentucky. I owned a Quilt Shop for 18 years where I taught beginners as well as more advanced quilting classes. I have also taught at quilt shows and retreats. I usually design my own patterns for classes and am about to publish and sell my designs.
Peggy has designed Row #8 for the Round Robin and it is a great one! It is full of yummy pies. We are still running with the checker theme too. That's what picnics are all about— lounging on that picnic blanket. of course it being checkered.

Here is a closeup of the pie–

I can't wait to give this one a try! looks like a bit of work–but really would add a bunch of fun to the quilt, don't you think?
Thanks Peggy for sharing your wonderful talent with the rest of us! Please hop on over to Peggy's blog and say hello: Magic Thimble Creations
