Camping 2012 in Uintas
This year we have headed out to the uintas– At the youth camp in Uinta County- Wy. I loved it! that is the only word i have to describe it. It was beautiful. Of course there was a no burn while we were there and the skies were smokey for one day because the wind was bringing in the smokey air from Utah fires….but other than that, it was a wonderful place.
It was totally quite- cool and when it did get hot we headed 20 feet to the river and plopped in our camp chairs with our toesies cooling off in the river with the kids tossing rocks everywhere.
I got to go hiking quite a few times and that was fun too- we did some shooting at the range, some boating in the wind {that was hard work trying to keep us out in the middle!}, river sitting of course, the boys did some paint ball fighting, and fishing. Talk about a totally loaded 5 days! when we weren't busy doing that we were eating, laughing and playing games together. fun. fun. fun.
I do have to tell one story—
Eliza- she is the youngest, but i tell you she is loving fishing! Tab was taking turns helping the kids learn to fish and when hers was over and he was again focusing on the oldest- she thought, i'm not waiting for that guy again. I'll do the fishing thing on my own.
She hunted down a long stick, found a fishing line with a weight and hook at the end {lost from someone else} and asked me to tie it on. I did and then she had found herself a 3" worm to put on the hook {all by herself} for bait.
She walked down to the edge and then in about 5 minutes or so had a fish bite the line and brought {or drug} him in. After they brought them to the lodge, they had a fish fry and she was right there along side holding her fish and checking out the guts and of course eating him when it was cooked just right. What a girl! I love it!
The area was beautiful! Our tent was seriously 15 feet away from the river- middle picture below: see the tent top on the right?
our drive– 3 hours. Not too bad.
We are thinking that this might have to happen every year. Did i mention they had showers? Flushing toilets? Lodge with kitchen and eating area? Inside fireplace? 3 fridges?
Oh yeah. i love camping like that-
I have caught up on the laundry– i think there were at least 7 loads. Good grief! I have a few bug bite- one on the eyelid. I hate that! And, we are all lounging around quite sluggish too. I am ready to move next to a river so i can sit in it all day with my feet taking a dip. mmmmmm. heaven.
Which by the way my feet are totally sporting a flip-flop chevron now- plahahaha
