Trunk Show Tuesday with Jamie

Today we are lucky to have a wonderfully talented Jamie of Love in Everything share her quilts with us!  She will be expaining her style of art on the quilts also.  She is a newbie blogger, but she seems to have gotten it down and has a great one!  She is my type of gal- upcycling clothes, using scraps and samples of fabric…and of course adds her own style to it all.

Quick Info about Jamie–

My name is Jamie and I am the mother of three beautiful boys that are learning by exploring the world around them.

In the past year I have developed a passion for sewing, and I love making something new out of something old. Colors and textures inspire me as well as designing fun and functional children's items. Manly blankets and upcycled clothing. My culture is an important part of my life and part of my creations.

Just a quick note about her method of sewing and designs— she explains:

I will do my best to explain the kwaguilth design, to give you a rough idea. I am First Nations from the Kwakwaka’wakw tribe, which is the West Coast of British Columbia. My granny grew up on a small island called Village Island and when she was older moved to Alert Bay, which is where my mom was born. The designs that I use on my quilts are the art form of of my people. My aunt has very generously given me some of her designs to use on my quilts. My focus is on sewing right now and I just don't have the focus to draw:) So that is where the designs come from.  The designs are appliqued and then I do a satin stitch around them with embroidery thread.
