Trunk Show Tuesday Starts today!!

Today is the day we start Trunk Show Tuesdays!!!!  Last year I did Focus Friday {focused on a new crafty book each month-totally fun}.  This year how about Trunk Show Tuesdays?

Oh, yea.  It is just what you are thinking.  Every tuesday there is a trunk show~ shared by some wonderfully talented sewer girl in the blog/web world.

Included will be a quick little interview, a short trip through their world of quilts/crafty things and descriptions, stories and other fun things they have decided to share with us.  I am totally excited for this year!!  That means there will be around 52 trunk shows.  1 per week.  Too much for you?  NEVER!  I mean really.  Can it ever be too much to look at someones goodies?  Not for me….and this collection is all about what I want. right? hee hee

Up today is my mom– she has graciously accepted to be the first one.  well, really i just snagged some quilts and she has no idea! but i am sure she will be just fine with it.

Here she is— my mom. Karen~  and my dad…

She has been sewing for as long as I can remember + more.  She got her first sewing machine a nice avacado green bernina when she was 16.  She has had 2 machines since the last one was the newest janmoe…HORIZON.. I know. Totally lucky girl.  I get to sew by it though. nanaa…   She has made me shirts, pants, blankets, bags,  appliqued things like icecream cones, flowers, stars on everything I wore.  {did your mom ever do that too?}  She doesn't just whip out quilts like I tend to do– she takes her merry time and makes everything match, look good and of course has perfect points and they are all square when finished!  It might take a long time for her to finish a quilt, but it is a masterpiece when done.

She invited me to attend a local church group that was getting together for a block of the month quilt class taught by Patsy Shelton of HMQS.   I was just starting out in quilting. I had made a few quilts on my own, but you know how newbies are the first quilts turn out? So, I of course jumped into that group and the bug really hit after that.  A new beginning for me — and her.

She has taught classes down at the quilt shop — the Chocolate Quilt which was a hit!  She has intention with each quilt and is always asking me 'what are you going to do with that quilt?   I of course answer- who cares?  I just am making it!

Here are a few of her quilts for her stash– next week I will be featuring her again {just because i can + i don't have any of mine!} they will be swaps, trades, or something of that kind.  Today– they are random beauties. Enjoy.

The 'chocoloate' quilt.  She bought this kit back east and loved it. She isn't a needle turn gal, but does a beautiful job at machine applique.

Her points are perfect and girls— she just does a nice job.

This is  a simple quilt…..2 tone + the background. Rosey + yellow is totally cute. The quilting is great too- check it out. {no, i didn't do this one}

She is a fan of the buggy barn style!!  We got together one weekend and everyone worked on their own quilts. Most of us were doing the monkey wrench– she was working on the corn flower.  I love this one….

Buggy Barn patterns are very 'cranky' and I love that!

This one is a batik quilt. I gave her a bunch of 4 inch squares and she came up with a simple bargello style of quilt. To add a bit of interest she put a pineapple in the left corner made with yo-yo's and a wool spikey leaves at the top.

Thanks mom for sharing your beautiful quilts with the girls.  and being a good sport when you see them published to the world!

    Your Mom’s quilts are gorgeous and now have to go and look at some more for the next round of them.

    Hugs,
    Trish
