This week I thought I'd do a review on the Stacked Coins Quilt. I love this pattern! And I love all the quilts that come from this pattern! It is one of the best patterns out there for stash busting….you can use those smaller pieces for the stacked part.
The best part of this quilt is randomness!! It doens't need a lot of attention for placing and pickiness when you are putting it together. Just grab another piece and go on. They did give instructions for cutting your fabric into the right sized pieces just in case you need to follow a pattern. That is what is great about the book. Even though the pattern looks random, they do give you hints on placement in the pattern. If you are a beginner quilter you could totally get into this method. If you are a experienced quilter {only meaning that you have a healthy sized stash} you are probably familiar with this pattern or idea of using up your scraps. Either way- its a great pattern for beginners.
Me- I just found all the right length with different widths and went to town.
Because of my randomness in piecing and the size I wanted to end up with, I did make my stacked coins quilt sideways. heehee.
Also notice that I did have a major size descrepancy with the pieces so I found ones that 'matched' and paired them up with more friends.
That way you can have different widths of strips too. Kind of handy when you have a pile of scraps…don't ya think?
The pattern in the book has them all the same width.
I wrote a bit more about this Stacked Coins Quilt here.
Have you made something from the book? Share it! Comment with your photo or post link…..we'd all love to visit and see.
Not to frighten anyone– but did you notice it is Friday the 13th? Good luck everyone

I LOVE coin quilts! Great way to use those scraps
it totally is! It does end up to be a bit impromptu– so if you don't mind
that, you are good to go.
