My daughter would steal this from me!
    We are in Austin TX
I hate running out of bobbin thread and having to stop mid stitch to wind another!
Favorite book is Denise Schmidt quilts

  • Cheryl

I am from West Texas, and love to quilt, sew & create!! My current favorite book is called “Daily Patchwork Bag” from Japan. I find it so inspirational.
My biggest pet peeve is when I buy a pattern with either wrong or confusing directions. Give me a pattern that has been proofread, tested & tested again any day!!

  • I'm really enjoying Cal Patch's book, Design it Yourself Clothes

  • Oh wow. What a great giveaway. Love the little gal by the way. My favorite sewing book (s) are the japanese quilting books, Cotton Time. I love them and I have a great collection. I read through them time after time and get great inspiration. I'm originally from Pennsylvania but have lived in Utah most of my adult life. I still miss the east. My sewing pet peeve? Hmm I think it is that people don't use color enough. They want to cookie cut something they see in a magazine or pattern and they don't make it their own by changing things up. I really hate to see a project made 100% exact like the original. People sell themselves short and are afraid of color sometimes. fredashive@gmail.com, nanette

  • Mariana

I do not have many sewing books, I learned from my mother and Burda magazines! But a couple years ago, I got Your fistr quilting book (or at least it should be) and it was great help!
    I'm from Chile!

And my favorite sewing books are all the books from SUE SPARGO. I love her designs. I met her some weeks ago in Nantes, I am dutch but I live in France. She is also a lovely lady

  • My favorite sewing book at this current moment is: Handmade beginnings by Anna Maria Horner, just because its new & exciting. I am Desiree, from Wisconsin & my biggest sewing pet peeve is when people don't finish things neatly – call me a perfectionist but iron and cut strings people.

  • The book that got me quilting, Scrap Quilts: The Art of Making Do by Roberta Horton, is my all-time favorite.

  • Thanks for the opportunity! I don't have a lot of sewing books actually, but I love looking online for tutorials! I am from the Los Angeles area and my sewing pet peeve is when I start a project without all the proper equipment – I do this way too often, although that's really a problem with me and not with sewing in general. Thanks for the giveaway (oh, and I voted for Apron-ology(.

  • Jodi

I don't have a favorite sewing book (I've actually never used one). I'm from the Central Coast in California and my sewing pet peeve is thread barfs… they always happen at the worst times.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!

  • My biggest sewing pet peive is when I sew two fabrics wrong (usually right side/wrong side combo), unpick the whole strip, flip it over, and then sew the whole thing wrong again! I hate that!

    and that doll is adorable!

  • Pet peeve is “unsewing”–hate hate hate picking out wrong stitches!

Favorite book on sewing is whatever is in my hands at the moment!

I don't have many books..it just isn't something i like to pay for when there is so much free online; but I always appreciated my Around the Block book. So many blocks and so many sizes already configured.
my pet peeve is my fault really….threading needles….I just can't see as well any more and it is difficult. Just saw one of those Clover threaders on sale…I probably will pick one up soon.

  • Sarah

Oh, my daughter would absolutely love her :)

My favourite book at the moment is Diane Gaudynski's “Quilt Savvy”. I'm from Ottawa, Ontario Canada, and my sewing pet peeve is when my thread breaks during free motion quilting.

  • My favorite sewing book is currently Liberated Quilting II by Gwen Marston. I'm from New Orleans currently and my biggest sewing pet peeve is when the bobbin thread runs out and I don't notice and keep on sewing. Doh!

  • oh and I voted for Material Obsession…they always have such interesting things!

  • Laura Pearce

My current favorite sewing book is “The Giving Quilt”, I hate turning straps, that's my pet peeve, and I'm in the Austin TX area

  • Leila

    SOoo cute!
I'm a google girl I surf the web to find what I need instead of books.
Just so cute I love her already!

  • bonnie

I love your little doll and I know just the little girl that would really love her. as for my favorite sewing book, so many I love them all, I have been into the Singer free motion book, and the watercolor book and I just won the twin peaks book and can't wait to get started there, see the list goes on and on and on. My pet peeve, well it is with my Pom, I will be in the sewing room and the maltese lays under my desk the pom comes in a steals what she can, most times she has my test blocks in the living room or a spool of thread or a marker. guess she don't want me to work please enter my name in your lovely drawing

  • Right now my favorite sewing book is WOOL CRAZY By Joann Mulally. I LOVE IT. I am working on a wool crazy quilt and you can see one of the blocks on my blog. http://lefthandednorwegianstitcher.blogspot.com

I am from “MY LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN” a 150 year old farm house with an awesome front porch that looks out over the valley and the creek with flower beds, bird feeders, our horses, neighbors cows, etc. Southwestern Wisconsin. :) Come and Visit sometime. Company is always welcome.

  • Elizabeth

my favorite sewing book is One yard Wonders. It has so many neat things you can do with just 1 yard of fabric. =]

  • sy

aww the little toy is so cute :D i'm from redmond, washington. i saw pretty little potholders in the book store recently and loves it.

  • Peggy Munday

Whew! Let's see you needed a comment… working on it….. You wanted my fav sewing book… hmm, well, my fav at the moment (cause I have sooo many, you should see my sewing library, lol) is probably “Quilter's Complete Guide” by Fons and Porter, since I'm doing so much quilting lately. Next… where am I from? I hail from Nashville, TN. I spent the first 20 yrs of my life in Nashville, second 20 yrs in Timmonsville, SC, a few more back in Nashville, 5 in Colorado Springs, CO and THANK GOD now back in Tennessee. Not quite home, since I had never been here before moving here Sept 2009, but I love the old Victorian we found over the internet…..(Gee, I sound ancient, but I'm about to be a spry 50 yr old this month) My sewing pet peeve would have to be trying something new and getting cocky and finding out I stitched it wrong and now have to rip it out. :( But you bet I won't forget next time…. :) I voted on Focus Friday and signed up for emails…. and I am soooo hoping I will win the subscription. I don't have the option of a quilting club at the moment for quilting fellowship, so this would be perfect. I run a custom window treatment business from my home and have added quilting to my services, so I welcome staying in touch with others on current trends. Thanks so much for sharing with us. I hope this isn't too lengthy, but you sparked my enthusiasm, lol
    Peggy

  • Oh so cute! My favorite book right now is Anna Maria Horner's Seams To Me or One Yard Wonders. They have such pretty pictures! I'm from Portland, Oregon and I don't know if it's a pet peeve, but I HATE when I have to change my bobbin in the middle of a project. Of course, it happens quite often so I can't really get away without it! ;)

  • Peggy Munday

Oops, forgot to say moved back to Tennessee, now living in Newbern, TN (just an hour NW of Jackson, TN) Check out Newbern, TN on google – about 3000 people, lovely little town. Just not a lot of fabric shops or sources for sewing items… guess I'll be doing a lot of online shopping… Thanks, Peggy

  • kate C.

I'm from Iowa, U.S.A. I actually don't have a favorite book – I don't own any, actually. My mom does though, and I borrow from her. I like modern quilts and paper piecing quilts.
Thanks for the giveaway, the Patchwork Posse sounds pretty cool!

  • My fav. sewing book is the Amy Butler sewing for Little Ones, since I usually make baby items. I'm from Shreveport, LA & my sewing pet peeve is bias tape! I always make it look horrible! LOL

Thanks for the great giveaway! That would be awesome to win! My little girl would love that doll! :-)

    Thanks so much!

  • Danielle

I love any books from Lotta J….however you spell her last name. She got me back into sewing. I'm from washington state, just outside of Seattle. My sewing pet peeve is when my machine eats my fabric. (It sometimes does that right at the begining of a stitch. very annoying!)

  • wow, thank you for the chance to win a cute doll and membership. i am from texas but live in illinois now. i don't own a sewing book…that might be my problem. i am reading Middlemarch by George Elliot (or would be if I wasn't checking out everyone's blog!). I hate when I make a mistake and have to rip, rip, rip. something I do often. I also hate when I am sewing the corner of something and the material doesn't feed right and I end up sewing a big knot. is there a way to avoid that? yes, i am a beginner but love it! christiharrison@gmail.com

  • Tanya

I have been able to borrow some great books from the library, the one that I am oohing and ahhing over right now is I heart Patchwork!
    I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada.

    luscofamily(at)ortelco.net

  • Hmmm.. favorite sewing book, well, um,… at the moment any of the jelly roll books. I'm from Australia as you probably already know and my sewing pet peeve is UNPICKING! I think it should be outlawed… really.

    lv,
    Joy

Oh, wow! How great! You know, I really love Handmade Home. I know it's nothing new and certainly nothing you can't find perusing crafty blogs, but it's so much better to be able to sit down with a book in hand and be inspired!
