Even though it is winter, flowers and leaves still need their stems!! I have put them on—and it looks a lot better.

I know you are smart girls and you have already picked up on the fact that they are bias tape stems and not ric-rac stems as I had planned. Well, plans change when you take the block and the store has nothing near the green you need….. so plan B. Bias Tape Stems.
Here's a little how to—just in case you run into the same problem:

Place right sides down. Fold over and pin in place. Edge stitch or hand stitch in place.
Sew along the right edge of the center. Tuck the stems under the edges!
