My heating pad needed an overhaul. It has been in this fleece forever and it folds, slumps, and pretty much doesn't behave itself. It was time to make it something that will keep it in its place!! Straighten that naughty heating pad out.

I didn't use the templates she has for the log cabin block. I just winged it and added sides to the center block. Hoping to make it a cute polka-dot log cabin block….i am not sure that i like it. But, it works. So there ya go. Maybe if it had a blue center instead of the red. hmmm.
I used a stripe on the back. Because of the batting on both the front and the back, it has a little bit of weight to it and keeps the shape of the heating pad. nice.
The top is supposed to be bound and then velcro put on– girls, i am sort of lazy. hee hee. I just sewed across the top and then left a little opening in the corner for the plug. The way she did the binding though……genious. I will be adding that method to the binding focus friday in March for sure.
This is a great pattern for beginners. You can use the templates provided or just wing it! Either way…it uses up all your scraps to make a wonderful, useful patchwork craft.

Wow! I love your fabrics and I think the log cabin blocks looks great. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for liking them…i think i like the heat it produces more than the design that it is.
