Bee Quilt in Issue 13 of Fat Quarterly

Bee Quilt in Issue 13 of Fat Quarterly

I am so excited!!  This past month has been a busy one!  Besides having Miss Kitties published in the Prim’s Magazine by Stampington, I have a second publication out!

My Busy Bees Quilt has been featured in issue 13 of Fat Quarterly! whoop whoop.  I love this quilt and am so excited it is finally out in pattern.

Busy Bees Quilt Pattern

This runs into baby quilt patterns being the finished size of 42″ X 50″.  The piecing and quilt block is super simple.  I’ll even give you a hint– see that row of bumble bees {another hint, they are the flying geese blocks}  those are made with the cut off corners!  It really doesn’t get any quicker than that.

You can find more about Issue 13 of Fat Quarterly here. There is a full run down of designers and the projects included.  But let me show off who I have been blessed to accompany this month–

I used Licorice Fizz by Andover, designed by Carol.  It’s the black and white line– and added the yellow to pop in the honey bee quilt.  The quilting was done with dark thread in the beehive to kind of make it look more like a beehive… the rest of the quilting is done with a lighter thread to hide in the lighter grey and black background fabric.busy-bee-quilt-pattern1

The quilt blocks have a ‘cranky’ setting gives it a bit more interest.  Or maybe it’s swaying from the tree tops.  The binding I went with a black/white stripe.  Love to add a little bit of interest to the very edge of the quilt, don’t you?

Just in time for late Spring and early Summer.  I have noticed quite a few out in the garden while planting the flower beds and garden this past week.
